Applicants must complete application procedures and observe application deadlines for both the Graduate School Admissions Office and the Department of Dance.
The application process for graduate studies in Dance at OSU has two requirements:
I. The Graduate School Admissions Requirements.
II. Review of Supplemental Materials by the Department of Dance.

International students applying for funding must submit by November 30, 2011.
2. Send one official transcript from each college/university you attended.
3. Submit GRE scores by the application deadline if your cumulative GPA is below 3.0
4. Pay the application fee.
GRE Requirements: If your cumulative undergraduate grade point average is below 3.0, you must take the GRE. If you attended an institution that used the Pass/Non-Pass system, you must also take a GRE. You must have your scores forwarded to the Graduate Admissions Office or recorded on the Graduate School Admission Application. II. Department of Dance Requirements
1.Complete the Department of Dance Application. Click "signup" and follow the instructions from there. If you have questions, please contact the Graduate Program Coordinator.
2. Submit the following:
- Personal narrative
Compose a brief but engaging narrative, relating your interests in pursuing dance studies in our program. Your essay should situate you within the field at the present time, gathering significant details of your previous experience, clarifying your current involvement and interest in dance, and speculating about your future intentions within the field. We are interested in getting to know something about you as a dance professional through this writing: what have you done that has led you here, how do you articulate your aesthetic sensibility, what do you hope to accomplish in your studies? Please note: if you are nominated for a Fellowship, this narrative will also be included in the application packet, which is forwarded to the University Fellowship Committee, and as such should provide a compelling account to a committee of readers from diverse disciplines.
- Curriculum Vitae or Résumé
This document should accurately reflect your completed educational background and all of your professional and related experiences to date. Please be thorough and comprehensive, as your c.v. or résumé is critical in our determination of appropriate potential fellowship assignments.
- Letters of recommendation
At least three letters of recommendation need to be uploaded to the Electronic Portfolio system. Letters should speak to the student's artistic and academic strengths. In order to be considered for a University Fellowship, at least two letters should be from someone at an academic institution who can speak to these strengths, even if the student's previous academic work was not in Dance. These recommenders should be chosen carefully as they are of importance in potential funding as well as in admission to the program.
- Official transcripts from each college/university attended
This includes every higher education institution you attended, even if credits were transferred to another institution. Official transcripts may be sent directly from the institution to the Department of Dance, or you may mail them to us. Please be sure that all transcripts you submit are official and delivered to us in a signed and sealed envelope.
